FUXEON®'s OSY Gate Valve is FM approved and available in sizes ranging from DN50 to DN300 (2”-12”). The valve body is primarily made of ductile iron, but stainless steel is also available. It is one of the most important components in fire protection systems. Customization is also available to meet your specific needs.
The opening and closing parts of the OSY Gate Valve are the gate plate, which moves perpendicularly to the fluid direction, and the gate valve can only be fully open or fully closed, not used for regulating water flow. Due to its exposed stem design, the exposed stem structure allows maintenance personnel to visually see the valve's open state and can be paired with a monitoring switch for use in an automatic alarm system. It can be divided into two types according to the connection method: flanged gate valve and groove gate valve.

Application field:
In fire sprinkler systems, ductile iron osy gate valves are usually installed before the alarm valve group or on the main water supply pipeline of the floor, used to control the flow of water into the sprinkler system. Resilient seat gate valves are often connected to supervisory switches, and once the valve is closed or opened, an alarm or status signal will be displayed at the fire control center. Rising stem gate valves are also commonly used in municipal, industrial, and infrastructure main water supply pipelines, as they are made of ductile iron and stainless steel, which are strong and durable with excellent corrosion resistance, ensuring the normal transportation of water, oil, and other media.。
Note: When using a flanged osy gate valve, regular maintenance and inspection are required to ensure its normal operation. This is because any failure or malfunction of the valve may cause serious damage to the fire protection system and endanger property and personal safety.
FAQ
Q1: Which pipeline systems are OSY gate valves suitable for?
A: OSY (Outside Screw and Yoke) gate valves are widely applied in fire protection systems, water supply and drainage, oil and gas pipelines, industrial process systems, and municipal engineering. They are ideal for scenarios requiring full-flow, tight shut-off and visual on-off status, especially fire water mains, sprinkler system risers, industrial medium pipelines, and high-pressure fluid control systems.
Q2: What types of media can OSY gate valves handle?
A: They are suitable for clean media such as water, oil, gas, and steam, as well as mild to moderate corrosive liquids. Carbon steel OSY gate valves are used for general media, while stainless steel models are suitable for corrosive media (e.g., chemical liquids). They are not recommended for media with large solid particles or high viscosity, which may cause valve jamming.
Q3: What are the core application advantages of OSY gate valves?
A: The core advantage is the outside screw design—valve stem and yoke are outside the valve body, avoiding contact with media and reducing corrosion. The visual on-off indicator (rising/falling stem) allows quick confirmation of valve status, preventing misoperation. They have full-bore design with low flow resistance, tight shut-off performance, and high pressure-bearing capacity, suitable for long-term stable operation.
