The CO2 trolley fire extinguisher uses carbon dioxide, one of the most common gaseous extinguishing agents. It possesses excellent properties such as isolating the air to prevent combustion, leaving no residue, not corroding containers, and not easily deteriorating. It is commonly used to extinguish initial fires involving books, archives, valuable equipment, precision instruments, and oils. It is suitable for extinguishing Class B fires (such as fires involving kerosene, diesel, crude oil, methanol, ethanol, asphalt, paraffin, etc.) and Class E fires (fires involving electrically charged objects).

Note: Carbon dioxide extinguishing agents cannot extinguish fires involving alkali metals such as sodium and potassium, or hydrides, nor can they extinguish fires involving compounds that themselves contain oxygen sources, such as nitrocellulose.

How to use the CO2 trolley fire extinguisher?

When using a CO2 trolley type fire extinguisher, two people are required to operate it. One person removes the safety cap, pulls out the safety pin, and rotates the valve counterclockwise to the top, while the other person firmly holds the spray gun and sweeps it at the base of the flames from about 3 meters away. The valve is then opened to extinguish the fire from a distance. Never use it against the wind, and actions must be decisive and swift. If encountering an oil fire, do not directly impact the oil surface to prevent oil splashing and the spread of the flames. When extinguishing fires involving electrical equipment, it is suitable for equipment with a voltage not exceeding 1000V at a distance of 1 meter. If the voltage exceeds 1000V, the power must be cut off before extinguishing the fire. Furthermore, because carbon dioxide poses a risk of frostbite and asphyxiation, gloves should be worn during operation. Never directly grasp the nozzle or connecting hose with your hands, and the fire extinguisher must be kept upright. Never lay it horizontally, invert it, or spray it towards people. Given that high concentrations of carbon dioxide can cause breathing difficulties and even asphyxiation, precautions should be taken against poisoning during use. After extinguishing a fire in a confined indoor space, evacuate immediately.

Maintenance:

The trolley extinguisher is a high-pressure container. During transportation and storage, it should be protected from collisions. The extinguisher should be placed in a dry and well-ventilated area to prevent freezing, moisture damage, exposure to rain, and direct sunlight. The storage temperature should be between -10°C and 45°C. Users should inspect the extinguisher upon installation, and thereafter every quarter. In harsh environmental conditions, inspections should be conducted more frequently. If any damage to the safety devices is detected, if the extinguisher is empty, if there is obvious damage, corrosion, or clogged nozzles, or if the annual leakage rate exceeds 5% of the specified capacity, the extinguisher should be taken to a qualified repair facility for maintenance.

Refilling Instructions:

Once CO2 fire ext is used, it should be refilled immediately. Refill should be returned to the production plant or a designated filling point according to the maintenance manual. Before refilling, the body must undergo a hydrostatic test, with a pressure of 22.5MPa. Whether the extinguisher has been used or has not been used, it must be sent to a designated professional maintenance center for a hydrostatic test every two years. Only after passing can it be used again. During the hydrostatic test, the residual strain rate must not exceed 3%. After the test, a steel stamp should be stamped on the shoulder of the extinguisher body and the test unit code.
