The ESFR sprinkler is a large-orifice sprinkler head and a key component of automatic fire suppression systems. It serves dual functions of fire detection and automatic water discharge for fire extinguishment. During the initial stage of a fire, it rapidly opens in response to heat and delivers a specific impulse of water in a predetermined pattern and density across the designated protected area. It is the only fire-suppression-type sprinkler capable of early fire suppression.
Featuring a large nozzle diameter and an oversized deflector, its Response Time Index (RTI) is ≤28±8 (m·s)⁰·⁵, ensuring fast fire response and high-volume water discharge. Specifically designed for high-hazard warehouse fires, it is ideal for protecting high-piled and high-rack storage facilities, as well as warehouses storing plastic goods and mixed commodities.
Working Principle:
The ESFR sprinkler utilizes highly sensitive thermal elements, such as low-melting-point alloys or small-diameter glass bulbs. When the ambient temperature reaches its rated activation temperature (commonly 68°C or 74°C), the thermal element reacts instantly—either by melting the alloy or shattering the glass bulb—triggering the sprinkler to open.
Designed with a high discharge coefficient (K-factor), typically K=202, K=242, or K=363, the ESFR sprinkler delivers significantly greater water flow per unit time compared to standard sprinklers. The ejected water features large droplet size and high kinetic energy, forming a hemispherical spray pattern. This enables the spray to forcefully penetrate thermal updrafts and flames, directly striking the burning material’s surface to rapidly cool it and suppress fire progression.
Product Features:
1.Rapid Response:
● Activates quickly during the initial fire stage, seizing the critical window for fire suppression.
● Controls fire spread earlier than conventional sprinklers, effectively preventing rapid flame propagation.
2.High-Flow Water Discharge:
● Delivers a high-volume water spray to rapidly form a dense mist coverage in the early fire stage.
● Provides strong fire suppression by overwhelming the fire at its inception.
3.High-Energy Water Droplets:
● Large-diameter droplets carry high kinetic energy, enabling them to penetrate flames effectively.
● Directly reaches burning materials to rapidly lower their temperature, significantly improving fire extinguishing efficiency.
4.Expansive Coverage Area:
● A single sprinkler covers a relatively large area, typically 12–15 m².
● Ideal for high-ceiling spaces and densely stacked storage, offering extensive protection with fewer sprinklers.
5.Robust Structural Design:
● Reinforced frame and sealed construction enhance mechanical impact and vibration resistance.
● Suitable for demanding industrial environments with complex operational conditions.
