Sidewall Sprinkler

The FUXEON® Sidewall Sprinkler is a closed-type fire sprinkler designed for horizontal installation against a wall. Its directional deflector distributes water toward one side in a parabolic fan-shaped pattern, making it suitable for rooms and areas where conventional ceiling-mounted sprinkler installation is limited.

The Sidewall Sprinkler uses a heat-sensitive glass bulb to activate when the surrounding temperature reaches its specified operating temperature. Available temperature ratings include 57°C, 68°C, 79°C, 93°C, and 141°C, allowing selection according to different ambient conditions.

Sidewall Sprinkler

Spray Pattern

Directional Distribution

When a fire occurs, the surrounding temperature rises and the glass bulb reaches its rated activation temperature. The bulb breaks and releases the water column, which strikes the deflector and is redirected forward and outward.

Unlike upright or pendent sprinklers with circularly symmetrical spray patterns, the directional deflector produces a parabolic fan-shaped water distribution toward the protected area. The spray pattern is therefore an important consideration when determining wall position, sprinkler spacing, and coverage.

Coverage Requirements

The standard Sidewall Sprinkler is intended for low-risk areas. Its use in medium-risk areas requires applicable special certification and verification that the spray pattern can wet the opposite wall and adjacent end wall under the sprinkler's working pressure.

The actual protection area should be determined according to the applicable fire protection design standard, building layout, sprinkler spacing, ceiling conditions, and hydraulic requirements.

Product Construction

Main Materials

The FUXEON® Sprinkler consists of a copper alloy frame, heat-sensitive glass bulb, seals, and deflector. The copper alloy construction provides a suitable material option for applications where corrosion resistance and pressure-bearing capability are important.

Some low-cost sprinklers use zinc alloy for the main frame. Compared with copper alloy construction, zinc alloy products may have lower corrosion resistance and pressure-bearing performance, which can affect service life in demanding environments.

Thermal Element

FUXEON® uses JOB thermal-sensitive components. The glass bulb is designed for rapid thermal response and controlled activation temperature, helping the sprinkler respond when the surrounding temperature reaches its specified rating.

These thermal-sensitive components are used in high-end buildings, ships, industrial facilities, and other environments where fire protection reliability is important.

Installation

Wall Installation

The Sprinkler is installed horizontally against the wall on the water supply branch pipe. Its deflector directs the water spray toward the protected area, producing a one-sided parabolic distribution.

For residential buildings, dormitories, hotel guest rooms, medical building wards, and office buildings with flat roofs, sidewall installation may be used where permitted by the applicable fire protection design requirements.

Installation Spacing

Because the sprinkler is positioned near a wall and has directional water distribution, installation spacing and protection distance need to account for the distance between sprinklers, room dimensions, and the location of the most unfavorable potential fire source.

For systems using two rows of sidewall sprinkler heads, the sprinklers should be arranged in a staggered configuration where required by the applicable design standard. When the indoor span exceeds the maximum protection distance provided by two opposing rows, an additional sprinkler row may be required between them.

Deflector Position

The installation distance between the deflector, ceiling, and back wall affects spray distribution. For standard coverage applications, the provided reference dimensions are shown below.

Actual installation dimensions should be confirmed according to the sprinkler type, building structure, applicable fire protection standard, and approved system design.

Sidewall Sprinkler

Applications

The FUXEON® sidewall fire sprinkler can be used in residential buildings, dormitories, hotel guest rooms, medical building wards, office buildings, ships, and industrial facilities where sidewall installation is permitted.

It is particularly useful in spaces where the ceiling structure, architectural layout, or available installation position makes conventional overhead sprinkler installation unsuitable.

Certification

The FUXEON® wall mounted sprinkler has obtained CCCF certification in China, providing evidence of conformity with the applicable Chinese fire protection product requirements.

FUXEON® also operates with GB/T 19001-2016 / ISO 9001:2015, GB/T 24001-2016 / ISO 14001:2015, GB/T 45001-2020 / ISO 45001:2018, and GB/T 27922-2011 certified management systems.

Selection Guide

Temperature Rating

The temperature rating should be selected according to the normal ambient temperature around the sprinkler and the requirements of the fire protection system. FUXEON® provides 57°C, 68°C, 79°C, 93°C, and 141°C options for different installation environments.

Coverage Design

Selection should consider room dimensions, ceiling height, wall position, sprinkler spacing, required coverage, water supply conditions, and applicable fire protection standards. The directional spray pattern means that the sprinkler position should be confirmed carefully to ensure the protected walls and floor area receive the required water distribution.

FAQ

Where Can It Be Installed?
